Heal
I remember when ET brought a dying flower back to life. ET was one of my favorite movies growing up. It was my first introduction to sickness and healing. I remember Elliot and ET being quarantined. ET was turning white and all he wanted to do was go home. Interesting enough, ET had the ability to heal those around him, but not himself. We all have the ability to heal. Our bodies were created to heal themselves. We can heal emotional scars by releasing that anger, pain, and disappointment. We can heal relationships with apologies. Healing does take time. Healing does require change, and healing requires rest. Make it a point to heal before the new year.
Afterschock
I've never experienced an earthquake, short of the ride at Universal Studios. I've slept through the ones that occurred in Georgia. I'm more of wind and rain, hurricane versus the ground is moving type girl. From what I've heard, sometimes the aftershocks are worse. Aftershocks are small earthquakes that occur after the initial quake. They often cause more damage because of the already weakened infrastructure.
We experience aftershocks in our life all the time. We experience trauma and tragedy. Sometimes, they seem to occur in cyclic manners. We get overwhelmed and depressed because it all seems like too much. We are shaken to our core by unexpected deaths and unforeseen circumstances, but they continue to happen. They continue to shape us and not break us. Difficulty tests our strength. It creates fortitude. Aftershocks prepare us for the unexpected. They keep us alert and vigilant.
1 Peter 5:8 (KJV) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Bitter
Are you bitter? Do you have some lingering unresolved issues? If you hear someone's name, does your blood boil? Is that heartache still a place of contention? Maybe that pain is too fresh to deal with....but don't become bitter. Don't let your hurt and sadness turn into resentment and bitterness. Let it go. Give it to God. Bitterness has a way of spilling over into other areas of your life. It's a poison. It pollutes. God wants you to be better not bitter.
