Vow
"For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part"
Isn't it interesting that marriage requires you to agree to something before you have knowledge of it? Marriage makes you say, "yes" to the unknown. Most of us have a problem with this level of commitment. We want to weigh all of our options. We want to make an educated decision. We want to pick and choose our vows. Not possible. We will never know what the "worse" is, or what "poorer" really looks like. We can only value the gift of our spouse, and choose to honor our vows regardless. We have to remember our vows when challenges occur in our relationships. We have to "love and cherish till death do us part."
Rest
The storm clouds have passed. The damage is being assessed. There are still some lingering effects. As crazy as it sounds, the rain battering on the window lulled me into a deep sleep. I slept through the storm. Others slept through the storm because their power was out, and there was nothing to do, but sleep. What if you were able to sleep through the storms in your life? What if you had enough faith to say, "I've done all I could do, it's up to you God." What if you trusted enough to rest in peace, to rest in God and know that it's out of your control. I've learned that I'm not in control. There are circumstances that are simply above my pay grade, that is when I've learned to let go and let God. Have faith and rest on his promises. This too shall pass.
Cusp
You never really appreciate the magnitude of something when you are in the moment. You don't realize that these are the good times until they aren't. You don't see the preparation for your future in the present. Perspective is relative to your current position. It is only when you ascend to certain heights do you really appreciate the view. The best view of the city is from the rooftop. The most coveted property is the penthouse or the house on the hill. Why? It's because of the view. When you are on the cusp of greatness, you rarely know it. You don't feel different, but the air is different. You don't act different, because you are different. You have a different perspective when you are on the cusp of greatness.
